Alvaro Arbeloa tweeted the picture with the caption “promise fulfilled, genius!” and it appears that he had promised to do so if they won the Champions League:

Carvajal’s beard already played second fiddle to Xabi Alonso‘s masterful facial hair in the Madrid dressing room and this change has only strengthened Alonso’s claim to having the best beard at the Bernabeu.
