'Greatest day of my life'-Mesut Ozil talks up World Cup win

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has issued his first comments since lifting the World Cup in Brazil. The £42 million attacker featured for 119 minutes as Germany defeated Argentina in extra-time through a stunningly executed goal from Mario Gotze. world champions!!! what an amazing feeling! #GER #GER #DFBTeam— Mesut Özil (@MesutOzil1088) July 13, 2014 greatest day of my life! #WorldCup #Worldcha mpions pic.twitter.c om/vI2oltb sb8— Mesut Özil (@MesutOzil1088) July 13, 2014 It caps a remarkable three months for Ozil, who won the FA Cup with the Gunnersin May - with teammates Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski by his side for Germany's triumph. As always, miracles are expected from Ozil, and last night was not an occasion on which he stole the show individually, but put in a controlled and composed performance in attack. He created two goalscoring opportunities, matched only by Thomas Muller, and completed 84 per cent of his passes. Ozil has taken as much flak in his homeland as anywhere else in recent months, but the end result - coming home a World Cup winner, is all that matters. Just ask Golden Ball winner Lionel Messi, who had to make do with a runners-up medal and memories to haunt him for a lifetime instead.
