The innovative foam spray being used for free-kicks at the Brazil World Cupcould be adopted by the Spanish league for the upcoming 2014-15 campaign, both in the first and second divisions. If that happens, La Liga would become the first major European league to implement FIFA's latest scheme. Just before the start of this summer's World Cup, Spain's Professional Football League (LPF) put the idea to its Referees Committee. At that time, the Referees Committee's president, Vitoriano Sánchez Arminio preferred to wait and see how the idea was received at the World Cup before giving a definitive answer. Although the tournament is not yet over, the Referees Committee is extremely surprised and pleased with the spray's reception amongst referees and players from all countries.
